Getting Your Ex Back After an Affair
Restoring Trust in Relationships…
How do you get your ex back even after you’ve cheated? Some people claim that an affair should always end a relationship. But personally, I have to disagree. I really believe that every relationship can be saved, if there’s someone out of the two people involved, who wants to save it.
The first thing that you need to look at is restoring trust in your relationship. You can’t make any significant steps forward unless your other half trusts you.
However, to repair the trust, you need to sit down and look at what went wrong in your relationship. If you were the one who had an affair, you have to examine honestly what the actually mix of circumstances and situations were that allowed you to believe that having an affair was ok. Perhaps there is something in the relationship that you and or your partner are refusing to face:
- A lack of intimacy!
- Lack of communication?
- Respect!
- Time for each other?
Whatever it is, face it and begin to deal with it. If you want to get your ex back after an affair, dealing with the hard stuff is your first step.
So, what needs to be done to fix it? Often that lies in self analysis. But just as often, that lies in the couple’s relationship.
Restoring trust in relationships means fixing the underlying problems. Sometimes that means going into couples counseling.
But just understanding our thoughts isn’t enough. The next step is to take concrete action in fixing the problems.
The secret to restoring trust in relationships lies not in talking about the right things, but in doing the right things.
One of the biggest things you can do is to make small promises and work your butt off to keep them. If you promise to make dinner twice a week, then you better come in from work and make dinner – being tired or having a bad day at work is not a reason to avoid making dinner. You stick to the small promises when you make them and a gradual sense of confidence will be realized in the larger picture of the relationship.
Another thing to realize is that one apology won’t cut it. Your ex is going to need constant reassurance that you’ve changed and that you’re really sorry. This means that you are going to need to apologize more than once over time.
This also means that you’ll need to accept that for sometime you will be receiving verbal volleys – I mean let’s face if, if you’re trying to get your ex back after you had an affair, it’s not going to be easy, but then neither is it going to be impossible. If you want to stay with your spouse or get your ex back, you’re going to have to eat some humble pie and be very patient.
If you both take this opportunity to grow together, then you have a great chance to restore the trust in your relationship and get your ex back. Click on the link for more help!
