Perhaps there is something in the relationship that you and or your partner are refusing to face:
- A lack of intimacy!
- Lack of communication?
- Respect!
- Time for each other?

You stick to the small promises when you make them and a gradual sense of confidence will be realized in the larger picture of the relationship.
Another thing to realize is that one apology won’t cut it. Your ex is going to need constant reassurance that you’ve changed and that you’re really sorry. This means that you are going to need to apologize more than once over time.
This also means that you’ll need to accept that for sometime you will be receiving verbal volleys – I mean let’s face if, if you’re trying to get your ex back after you had an affair, it’s not going to be easy, but then neither is it going to be impossible.
